Customs FCT Command Showcases Achievements As Area Controller Visits Diplomatic Village

In a landmark press briefing held on February 27th, 2024, the Customs Area Controller in charge of FCT Command, Comptroller Oluwa Debisi, highlighted the remarkable achievements of the command in boosting revenue and cracking down on smuggling activities.

Comptroller Oluwa Debesi underscored the significance of the briefing, which showcased the Command's stellar performance throughout 2023 and its continued success since the onset of 2024.

He stated that the Command generated revenue of N10,872,314,317.50 during the period under review. He attributed the success to the diligence in their operations.

Acknowledging the collaborative efforts and synergy among sister agencies, the Area  Controller emphasized the crucial role of stakeholder engagement in enhancing awareness and enforcement activities, particularly at critical locations like Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

A highlight of the briefing was a tour of the Diplomatic Village, where stakeholders witnessed firsthand the meticulous efforts behind its establishment and operation. 

The Village, housing duty-free shops and essential amenities, stood as a testament to effective collaboration and dedication to excellence.

Addressing concerns about smuggling, the Command reported a significant seizure of 25 items, including military camouflage and drones. 

The Comptroller stressed the importance of proper documentation for importation, citing the requirement of an End User Certificate from the Office of the National Security Adviser for drone importers.

The Comptroller, however, extended gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs,  Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for unwavering support in advancing the Command's objectives and operations.
